A tattooed person wearing pink gloves is applying ink to a customer's arm during a tattoo session. The person's arm has colorful tattoos, and the customer is lying on a purple cover with a paper towel nearby.

You always wanted to try tattooing but didn´t know where to start ? This workshop is made for you.

The workshop is aimed at beginners who want to try tattooing for the first time or want to improve their skills with professional advises.

With me, you will learn in a non judgemental environment and you´re welcome to show up with your personality, your thoughts, your questions.

The tattoo studio celebrates queer, feminist and neurodivergent identities. Come as you are !

Meet your teacher

The workshop is given by me, Macha.machenka who is tattooing since 2019. I have learned the art of handpoking by herselfmyself and thanks to my customers who let me experiment on their skin at the beginning. The art of DYI has no secrets for me while still having a long experience in professional tattoo studios as a tattooer but also a manager.

I got her first tattoo in 1999 by a tattooer named Rocky who was smoking inside the studio. Yeah that was another time.

I believe that there is no stupid questions when we´re in the process of learning something new so come to the workshop without fear of ridicule.

A tattooed woman administering a tattoo to a person's leg using a tattoo needle, with tattoo supplies and equipment nearby.

how does it work ?

how does it work ?

Because for many people learning with a group of strangers can be intimidating, the workshop is individual or with a group of people you know (your friends, family, colleagues). The maximum is 3-4 people at the same time. Depending on how many people are involved, the class takes between 3 and 5h in total, so book your full afternoon in advance.

The course is divided in 2 chapters, given on the same day in Berlin Wedding. We pick up the date together when it fits you best. And no worries, the workshop is available all year long.

At the end of the workshop, a pdf with all the info we will see together and even more will be sent to your email address so you don´t have to take notes.

The first part of the workshop is an overview about tattoo culture and tools.

We will talk first a little bit about tattoo history and the roots of handpoke in indigenous cultures.

Then we will focus on our tools : needles and inks.

And last we will discuss the topic of skins and the hygiene rules you need to respect so the experience stays fun and light.

Several books, including one titled 'Life Under My Skin' by Anna Mazas, are resting on a patterned, multicolored fabric surface.

Chapter 1 : theory

Now it´s time for you to handle the needle. It is the fun part where you will make your own tattoo and I will guide you.

Come with a design you like. To build the road of success, pick up something small and simple.

You don´t know what to tattoo ? We will find something together no stress.

Then you have different opportunities :

  • you tattoo yourself

  • you tattoo the person you came with

  • you tattoo a banana you brought

In all cases I am there with you and I´m very patient. We all learn at different pace and that´s ok. Furthermore there is no need to feel some competition between people. Some people will get the trick faster than others but at the end we will all finish the tattoo. Let´s have fun together and be kind with each other.
